SEPAC Members and Friends,
We hope you and your families enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Thank you to those who came out for our November event with Jessica Minahan.
We hope that you enjoyed the presentation as much as we did! We hope to continue the tradition of hosting a banner event like this one each Fall in collaboration with the Office of Student Services. If you have ideas for speakers we might consider for future years, please let us know.
Several people asked about handouts from the presentation. Ms. Minahan did not bring handouts to this event, but she did tell us afterward that she would be happy to provide them to parents who contact her directly. You can reach her through her website: www.jessicaminahan.com You can also find a list of her future speaking engagements at that site, in case you missed her presentation or would like to see her again.
We also found a piece of jewelry at the front of the auditorium following the presentation. If you lost one that night, please contact us.
Our next meeting will be on December 12, 2017
At 6:00, Officers will meet to discuss potential modifications to our SEPACs bylaws, based on a review of our current bylaws as well as those of other local SEPACs. All are welcome to join us to contribute your thoughts about this process. Our current bylaws, with revisions already proposed at the October meeting, can be found here.
Note that no bylaw changes will be finalized until any proposed amendments are voted on at two separate general membership meetings.
At 6:45, we will conduct general SEPAC business, including approval of previous meeting minutes, and updates on the work of the MCAS subcommittee, our financial accounting procedures, and the ongoing bylaw review.
The meeting agenda will be posted on our website
when it is finalized. Draft minutes from the October meetings are posted here
and November’s draft meeting minutes will be posted prior to December’s meeting for your review.
At 7:00, Ms. Rebecca (Becky) Kiley and Ms. Christine Myers, Medway’s two newest Education Team Supervisors, will briefly introduce themselves to SEPAC Members.
After these introductions, Dr. Ryan Sherman, Director of Wellness for Medway Public Schools will speak to us about Managing Holiday Stress.
Following Dr. Sherman’s presentation, we may return to discussing SEPAC business and/or parent-initiated topics if there is time and interest.
We will meet in the Medway High School Library. A flyer for the meeting is attached, please feel free to distribute to other groups or individuals who may be interested.
Welcoming Becky Kiley and Christine Myers
We hope that you all received the email from the Kat Bernklow, Director of Student Services, regarding the new K-4 Education Team Supervisor (ETS) that Medway has hired. We welcome Rebecca (Becky) Kiley to the district and we look forward to working with her. Ms. Kiley and Ms. Christine Myers, who was hired this Fall, will attend our December SEPAC meeting to introduce themselves to our members. Please come out and meet them!
As a reminder, the current ETS responsibilities are:
Pre-K: Vicky Fanelli
K-4: Rebecca Kiley
5-8: Vicky Fanelli
9-12: Christine Myers
Future SEPAC Events:
- February 13 (7:00): An IEP for My Child (Snow date: 2/27)

We are also hoping to put together an Adult Social Event (possibly a “Paint N Sip”) and a Family Social Event (likely a playground visit) for later this Winter/Spring. If you have ideas for these events or would be willing to help us organize them, please let us know by email or at a meeting!
We hope to see you soon!
