Michele Gay is a Newtown parent who lost her daughter, Josephine, in the tragic events at Sandy Hook in December 2012.  She is co-founder of Safe and Sound Schools (www.safeandsoundschools.org), a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide school communities a platform for building partnerships between parents, educators, students, first responders, safety and security experts, and community members in order to maintain safe and secure schools.

 

Michele will share her personal story as well as her experiences working with communities across the country to promote safety in their schools.  Michele will focus on the community specific needs of developing developmentally appropriate safety curricula and addressing the safety needs of special education students.
